AT MAJOR INCIDENTS‘

The volunteer Ambulance Reserve is a group of volunteers who assist the professional ambulance service at major incidents, during times of high demand and in adverse weather conditions. They are trained in how to set up the major incident equipment, man the various treatment posts and are given training on basic first aid.

The team meet regularly to carry out training, simulations and maintain the emergency response equipment including:

• Major incident shelters
• Trailers & vehicles
• Lighting and power generators
• Triage equipment
• First aid kits
• Stretchers and spinal boards
