Working Together

Emergency planning, preparedness and resilience enables the ambulance service to be ready to respond to major incidents and ensure it complies with relevant legislation and national guidelines and best practice.
Senior officers who fulfil strategic and tactical command roles and ambulance officers who take on the role of operational commanders all undergo relevant training.

All staff attend regular major incident training which includes both classroom based table top exercises and full scale multi-agency exercises around the island. Recent examples have included exercises St Peter Port harbour and Guernsey airport. These exercises test and validate emergency procedures and develop staff competences in unfamiliar or challenging scenarios.
