This is a great exam

This is a great example of emergency responders working together to save lives. We know that early recognition of a cardiac arrest, with early CPR and defibrillation followed by advanced care saves lives. Well done to everyone involved.Yesterday Wendy Brehaut attended Police Headquarters to surprise and thank officers involved in saving her life. Earlier this year, Wendy suffered a cardiac arrest within her home address, and at the time police officers PC Andrew Burns and PC Joseph Cox were dispatched and the first emergency responders on scene.

Both officers are trained to have enhanced first aid skills and carry additional equipment. PC Burns and PC Cox quickly commenced lifesaving efforts, including CPR while waiting for the Ambulance to arrive.

As a result of a combined effort by all Emergency Services, Wendy was resuscitated and is now on the road to recovery.

We of course do not expect anything for our services but it is always rewarding when people we help are able to thank us, and for us to see the direct result of our officers' efforts.

This was very much a joint effort from all Emergency services but thanks to the quick response and actions of PC Burns and PC Cox, Wendy got the best care possible.

Wendy was happy to for us to share her story as an example of the very different roles our officers find themselves playing on a day-to-day basis. She is pictured below with PC Burns.
