⚠️ Think Before You Jump ⚠️
Tombstoning - jumping off walls, piers or rocks into the sea - is extremely dangerous.
In Guernsey, changing tides, submerged rocks and strong currents can turn a jump into a life-changing injury. Even if the water looks safe, the impact of hitting it from height can cause serious injury, paralysis or worse.
As we enjoy the warmer weather and make the most of our coastline, try not to let peer pressure, alcohol or other factors affect your judgement.
And remember, younger children may be watching and could be tempted to copy what they see, without understanding the dangers.
What may look fun in the moment can have life-changing consequences.
If you want the experience of jumping into the sea, do so under the supervision of a qualified coasteering instructor.
🌊 Enjoy the coast.
🤔 Think before you jump.
✅ Make sure you get home safely.
📞 If you see someone in trouble in the water, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard.
