A new award for Clin

A new award for Clinical Excellence was introduced for the first time at our annual awards event this year.

We'd like to say a big thank you to Channel Insurance Brokers for sponsoring the award, which was presented by Group Managing Director, Tony De Sousa.

Among the winners for 2025 was Emergency Medical Technician Sharon Le Cras (pictured). Sharon and her colleagues were recognised for their prompt action at a maternity case last year.

Paramedic Team Leade

Paramedic Team Leader Andy Adam has been presented with his 40 years long service medal.

He started in 1985 with the Patient Transfer Service, before training as an EMT and then studying to qualify as a paramedic - one of the first paramedics in Guernsey.

Andy is a hugely respected team leader and continues to be an active operational paramedic, responding to medical emergencies on a daily basis. He is responsible for all major incident training within the ambulance service, oversees the Volunteer Ambulance Reserves and was previously active with the cliff rescue team, hyperbaric chamber and inshore Rescue Boats.

He was recently appointed as an Officer of the Order of St John for his outstanding service and represented the Crown Dependencies at the VE Day procession in London last year .

Chief Officer Mark Mapp said “Andy truly lives the values of the Order of St John: In the Service of Humanity, with respect and kindness, unselfishness and shows a deep devotion to helping others. Andy continues to be a steady, inspiring presence and his contribution over the past 40 years to the St John Ambulance and Rescue service and the people of the Bailiwick is greatly appreciated.”

We would like to advise Motorists to drive with extreme caution.

As you are aware Guernsey is currently experiencing a heavy down pour of rain which in turn will cause a lot of free standing water. The rain is expected to continue into the evening and up until the early hours.

The usual areas will be flooded and with it starting to get dark you may not see it straight away.

Drive safely!!
